The 'Burbs

As much as I love living in the City, I must sheepishly admit that sometimes the suburbs are right up my alley--with the unobstructed sunshine, the sweeping lawns, the quiet streets,  the massive SUVS parked everywhere (not so much), it's easy to see why people choose to live in these enclaves.  When I'm in the mood for a little suburban sprawl I drive east about 35 minutes to visit my cousins who live in the most picturesque little town of Clayton, California.  Incidentally, it's also noteworthy as the town with the most paranormal activity in California, but that's a whole other blog post entirely (let's just say I won't be spending the night over there anytime soon).
Anyway, this past Saturday we had a yard sale in which I attempted to unload some household paraphenalia that had been lingering in my storage facility for a while.  Though I ended up driving  home with most of it back in the trunk (suburbanites just don't know good junk when they see it apparently), it was still fun to hang out in the sun and pretend I was in an epsiode of Desperate Housewives for the afternoon.

p.s. I finally gave in and got a bang trim.  So much for having the discipline to grow them out!

  2. It looks so lovely where you are...there's even a white picket fence!! I really love your outfit, especially that great purse and those lovely Hasbeens! I just recently got a jean jacket, and I'm looking forward to a cool evening when I can finally break it out! (The land of ice & snow over here has been in the mid 80's and humid every day for about a week! I'm loving it, but I won't be disappointed when it decides to cool down a bit.) Also, are you going to do a blog post on the paranormal activity in your cousin's neighborhood? Because now you've peeked my interest!

And wait, what exactly is Clayton known for? All I thought of was Paranormal Activity...but that actually took place in San Diego. Man, you have just fed your readers' curiosities over here!!!

  6. sometimes it really is nice to just get away from things. i'm a total urbanite, but love visiting with my family in the burbs. lucky for me, the boyfriend's parents live in the burbs of sf, so i'll have some place to escape when i'm craving some quiet time.
