Tap Cat

coat- vintage / jacket- marc jacobs / sweater-tocca / shirt-vintage / skirt-vintage / tights hue / shoes- ferragamo

these were taken on friday while waiting for the bus,  just after enrolling in a tap dacing class which i've been longing to take for years now. i finally just bit the bullet and plonked down my $125 to enroll in a 10-week course which i expect will turn me into quite the bojangles before long. and in the spirit of talking something to death before even beginning, i've been thinking of names for a tap trio i'm forming  (available for bookings in 10 weeks). so far "tap cats" is the winner (although i'm more a dog person, "tap dawgs" was rejected by group vote, as was "tap attack" and  "the tapaholics", go figure). anyway, if you have any other suggestions, let me know. i'm off to go buy some tap shoes!

Vintage Heaven

raincoat- nanette leopre  sweater- j. crew outlet  blouse- vintage  wool shorts- vintage boots- dolce vita
bag- dooney and bourke

see the girl in these pictures?   these were the me before i knew what true happiness really was--  i.e. just before i stepped through the doors of the mecca of vintage, also known as the vintage fashion expo. it's a huge indoor vintage market that happens a couple times a year in s.f. and for whatever weird reason i had never felt the need to stop by until yesterday. there's just something magical that happens when you place a bunch of people under one roof that share the same love for something.  (maybe that's why star wars coventions are so popular?)  i could go into all the details of how awesome it was, but instead of going off into that tangent, i'lll just say that it's twelve hours later and i'm still riding high on that adrenaline rush of successful treasure finding.  all you vintage lovers know what i mean.

p.s. those green doors as backdrop are my tribute to patty's day.  hope you had a great one. ♥

♥ Custard Heart Girl ♥

a while back i sold a dress to male customer who had snuck into his wife's etsy favorites to buy her a little something that she was sure to love ( incidently, this is the type of sneaky male behavior i always condone and encourage).  "the wife"  he had been shopping for turned out to be one of my favorite blog friends, monique of tipa tipa.  what a small world, right?!  anyway, here she is in the said dress, looking as lovely as ever.  check out a  mini-interview with monique below.

what's your name and where do you live?  My name is Monique and I live in Brooklyn, NY.

what vintage pieces are you scouring etsy for this spring? Recently I've been searching Etsy for lightweight vintage sweaters to wear this spring and on cool summer nights.

what’s your favourite decade for vintage and why? I really love the twenties and the seventies. The cloche hats and drop waists of the twenties gets me every time. I'm a fan of bright colors and bold prints. There's so much to love about the seventies. I just started growing a seventies Afro. I can't wait for it to get really big. Both of these decades were such pivotal points in American history.

if you have a photo of yourself in something you've bought from the shop, send it over to and you'll receive not only my undying affection, but a 15% off coupon for your next purchase as well. ♥

Royal Purple

sweater- j. crew outlet / blouse- 80s vintage / pants- 60s vintage / pumps- aldo

extra excited today because this saturday i embark on a an epic spring buying trip that will bring tons of new pieces to the shop in the weeks to come.  one thing i'll be on the hunt for in particular is lightweight wool pants in all colors, preferably from the 50s and 60s. i swooped up these purple ones last week and since they had a couple little holes, i decided it was best i keep them.  yeah, i know, i know, the sacrifices i make are just too great...  ;)
p.s. let me know if there's something in particular you would like to see in the shop for spring and i'll definitely keep a lookout for you.
