Outfit du Jour: Autumn Rain

This outfit was for a rainy day last week--the dress is normally kind of sack-like so I belted it and it's so much cuter. I like all the texture I've got going on here if I don't say so myself!

1. dress, H & M (and thrifted --can you get any more budget?)
2. belt, Ralph Lauren
3. ribbed tights, Hue
4. mary janes, TopShop
5. raincoat, Nanette Lepore
6. leather chain strap purse, vintage 80s

Preview :Textured Separates

Texture, texture, texture... this week I've got lots of separates in warm autumn colors with one thing in common.. yeah you guessed it--TEXTURE! Everything feels like Fall.. nubby, fuzzy, soft & wooly. They'll be lofting into the shop all week long... like leaves gently falling from a tree...

City Hall Wedding

Are you a girl who's always dreamed of a big wedding? To tell you the truth, I never seriously thought of what type of wedding I'd have until I was asked, and then to my surprise (and to the dismay of my Catholic mother, but that's another story) my first thought was, "It's got to be City Hall." I started dreaming of a chic simple vintage dress against the backdrop of City Hall's gorgeous domed rotunda. I chose this vintage inspired Trina Turk and a simple daisy bouquet.

You see in S.F. we don't just have any City Hall. We have a Beaux-Arts architectural masterpiece that rivals any building in Europe. Plus it's got a fascinating history-- Marilyn took the plunge with DiMaggio here, as did Frida and Diego. These two liked it so much they did it twice actually.

First Time

Second time's the charm?

Here's the dress in the shop right now that started all this pondering. If I could do it all over again I would do it in this one: 1960s LATTICED mod a-line party shift by Custard Heart Vintage

Or this one: Three Tiered Lace 1960s dress by Cult of Aphrodite Vintage
Or even this one: Porcelain Winter 1960s party dress by Thrush Vintage

Dreaming in Pink

It is about to be a girly-girl's dream in the shop this week. I'll be featuring a cache of dresses in festive fabrics and candy colors, -- I get cavities just looking at them! They're all perfect for the upcoming holiday season in case you want to get a jump start on your party-dress shopping. The one below is a Victor Costa which is already in the shop...right here.

Outfit du Jour: Floral & Pinstripes

Outfit for a busy Indian Summer's day.

1. floral bustier, Forever 21
2. 80s vintage jeans, Unionbay
3. ballet slippers, French Sole
Probably the last time I'll wear these pinstripe jeans until next Spring. They're great with summery things -- wedges, & ballet flats, but they just don't pair well with heavier boots and sweaters. I figured they could have one last summer fling with the floral bustier...

The Return of the Skirt

Plenty of separates in the shop at the moment , especially skirts!

Have you noticed for the past few years skirts have been taking a back seat to dresses? I don't think I bought one new skirt in the last five years... until this season that is... I'm loving all the 70s styles that are all over the place for Fall and Winter. They're so timeless and easy to wear.. I can't wait till it gets cold and I can pair one with chunky boots.

From left to right, clockwise:

Pale Camel skirt, $36
Check Pattern skirt, $28
Ash Brown A-line skirt, $29
Amethyst Jaeger skirt, $42
Navy Gabardine skirt, $ 28
Knife Pleat skirt, $24
Sienna Belted skirt, $32

Now through October 21, use the code 'skirt 10' when you check out, and receive 10% off your next purchase!

Outfit du Jour-- Pink Python

dress, vintage

coat, Juicy Couture (from Loehman's)

shoes, Franco Sarto

bag, Monsac

The dress is one that my mom had made to order in the Philippines in the 1960s. It was originally a maxi dress which was elegant, but left me feeling a bit, "costume-y". So I had it shortened to a mini. It turned out to be the perfect length to wear under my new wool coat which I just purchased with my 15% off birthday discount at Loehman's (a.k.a., the happiest place on Earth). Old meets new!
